Matador Pushing the Boundaries of Ecommerce Photography

When Matador set out to refresh the e-commerce imagery for their line of performance travel bags and accessories, they wanted visuals that felt refined, consistent, and true to their modern design language. That vision made them a perfect fit for OMS Photography’s Golden, Colorado studio, where photographer and director Brent Taylor led a production designed to elevate the brand’s visual identity through clean, high-end imagery.

From the start, Matador’s owners, Chris and Jamie, made it clear that consistency was key. They wanted every image across their e-commerce experience from product carousels to digital ads to feel unified and intentional. Lighting, tone, and texture all needed to align with Matador’s sleek, detail-driven aesthetic.

Matador’s visual style is moody, tactile, and high-contrast. To achieve that look, Brent and the OMS team leaned into a lighting setup that emphasized depth and texture. Rather than the flat, evenly lit style often seen in e-commerce photography. The team used hard, directional light to sculpt each product and bring out the precision of the materials. Negative fill deepened the shadows, while subtle backlight kickers added separation and clarity. The challenge was maintaining dramatic contrast of the product while keeping a neutral background. This balance felt dimensional, elevated, and true to the brand.

The result was a cohesive library of images that highlight the craftsmanship, materials, and design intent behind each Matador product. Every frame reflects the brand’s dedication to thoughtful design and functional beauty, creating an e-commerce experience that feels premium and intentional from start to finish.

With a full studio built for flexibility and scale, the OMS Golden team continues to help brands like Matador tell their stories through purposeful, design-forward imagery, balancing precision, consistency, and style.
