OMS Production Process – Huk
The OMS Production Process
With over 30 years of experience working with high-volume apparel brands, OMS has established an effective and efficiently streamlined system that is flexible and scalable to our client's unique needs. The customizable OMS Quick Base system allows us to check in items and track them through prep, steaming, photography, retouching, file delivery, and shipping back the item.
Below, you will find a breakdown of the step-by-step process:
Pre-Production
- Client provides a spreadsheet of all garments with image requirements, metadata, item names and numbers, and UPC codes
- The producer reviews the shot list and aligns on a number of shoot days to capture the product. Client and Producer put dates on the calendar for preproduction and photography.
- Items are shipped to OMS at least two weeks before the shoot for prep. The client provides shipping details, including shipment contents, number of garments, and product numbers/UPCs.
- The client spreadsheet is entered into our custom QuickBase system for tracking product, imagery, post-production, file delivery, and return.
- Products are checked into our QuickBase system, placed on labeled racks, and prepped for the first steam.
- Once talent is selected, the wardrobe is placed on racks and categorized by the model. The wardrobe stylist works with the client to align on proper pairings for the wardrobe.
- A pre-production meeting with all crew members is scheduled before the talent casting to review style guidelines, posing, and brand preferences for shooting.
Talent Casting
- Client provides OMS with guidelines for talent casting, including model type and preferred sizing based on sample product sizing.
- The producer works with local talent agencies to provide submits of potential talent.
- The producer schedules a full day of in-person fit casting with agency talent to confirm the wardrobe fits talent. (Client is asked to be onsite for the casting) Casting should happen a minimum of one week before the shoot days.
- Post-casting, the client and producer review images of talent and make talent selections, and the producer works on booking talent for shoot days. (2 models per day)
Production
- OMS Producer is onsite for full production to ensure all shoot elements are executed as agreed upon by the client, including noting any onset adjustments to the shot list for the post-production team.
- The OMS crew works seamlessly with the client to shoot all wardrobe items.
- Items are all tracked with the Quickbase system, and the digital tech notes any adjustments.
- The same crew is booked for the entire photography session.
- All crew members are OMS employees with the exception of the wardrobe stylist.
Post-Production
- Images from each shoot day are shared with the client via a Photo Shelter gallery for selects for retouching. This step can be done on set or by the photographer if the client prefers.
- Retouched images are shared for feedback through our post-production feedback through our online proofing system, Ziflow.
- Once final images are selected, The in-house retouching team edits the files to the client's specifications and works directly with the client to gather feedback and/or edits.
- Metadata can be added to all images based on client-provide specifications (including model usage rights, name and agency, season, article name, SKU number, etc.)
- The OMS production team will deliver the final files through the client's DAM directly via FTP or WeTransfer once the final assets are approved.
- Once the final assets are delivered, the OMS team sends back items to the client exactly as received. Our system lets clients know which products are being returned in each shipment box.
Each step of this journey is visible in our QuickBase system. You'll even be able to preview thumbnails of each product item. See below for two video examples of what the QuickBase system for on-figure capture can look like.
WHY OMS?
At OMS, we are not in the business of building our portfolios. We're a team of in-house talent with, on average, over 10 years of experience. While we always stay on top of trends, changing styles, and approaches, we aren't chasing self-serving projects. Instead, we approach each project with the client's objective as our first priority. We believe in the power of collaboration and that every voice on set matters. If something isn't working, we have the ability to be flexible and make changes on the fly. This nimbleness has kept our clients returning for over 30+ years.
Additionally, at OMS, we understand the power of an all-in approach. We tactfully and intentionally schedule our larger-scale shoots so they are the only client in the building. This ensures our clients have our team's undivided attention and focus. Our clients aren't just another brand on a list that we check off. They become a part of the team for the time they are with us, and we do everything we can to go above and beyond expectations.
We appreciate your consideration for your on-model work and look forward to the possibility of working together again.
