Everyone is Talking About the ‘Sad Snack Plate’ at the Critics’ Choice Awards
Last week, a very sad-looking snack plate went viral at the Critics’ Choice Awards. And while we love a good charcuterie moment (if you’ve ever been on set with us, you know), a few crackers and some grapes served as dinner during a 3+ hour awards ceremony? No, thank you.

We especially love this photo of the Sentimental Value cast. Renate, in particular, appears to have very little sentimental value for whatever passed as his meal that evening.
As food photographers, retouchers, videographers, and stylists, we couldn’t resist having a little fun with it. So we reimagined the Critics’ Choice dinner service and plated up some on-theme dishes inspired by a few of our favorite nominees and winners – because everyone deserves a proper meal.
One Battle After Another – Best Picture
For the cast of One Battle After Another, we’d serve banana pancakes – a nod to Gravity’s Rainbow and Pirate Prentice’s legendary banana breakfasts.
“Because no matter what battle you’re fighting, there is always time for pancakes.”

Timothée Chalamet, Marty Supreme – Best Actor
To celebrate Timothée’s win for Marty Supreme, we’d serve up a fresh bowl of Wheaties – a playful callback to his character’s cereal box moment.
Sometimes the simplest meals are the most iconic.

Paul Thomas Anderson – Best Director
Paul is vegan, so we’d let vegetables take center stage – beautifully styled, boldly lit, and absolutely deserving of the spotlight. Like his directing.

The Naked Gun – Best Comedy
With its many references to chili dogs – famously dubbed the “breakfast of champions” – there was really only one choice here: Skyline Chili dogs.
Seth Rogan, The Studio – Best Actor in a Comedy Series
And finally, for one of our favorite shows (purely because it feels a little too familiar), we’d serve Seth Rogen a hamburger.
Seth has long proclaimed himself a burger aficionado and even appeared on The Burger Show, so we went a little bold here – adding a psychedelic flair we think he’d appreciate.
Congrats to all of the nominees and winners – we loved watching you on screen this year and can’t wait to see what’s next.
