The Sweet Spot: Anna Jones Brings Ice Cream to Life

Ice cream may be one of the most fun (and delicious) foods to photograph, but it’s also one of the trickiest. It melts, shifts, loses texture, and changes appearance fast under hot lights. For this playful series, photographer Anna Jones partnered with food stylist Allison Hamilton and OMS retoucher Lisa Cape to turn a lineup of frozen treats into colorful, mouthwatering imagery, without losing the realism that makes food photography actually work.

From an overflowing banana split and a bubbly root beer float to graphic scoops, nostalgic sundae cups, and an extreme macro shot of a layered dessert, the series shows how many directions a single product category can go.

Each image has its own personality, but every one stays tactile, appetizing, and unmistakably real.

Polished hero shots, energetic overheads, and macro work tight enough to see the texture.

It all showcases Anna’s 15+ years of experience solving the technical problems frozen food throws at a set, combined with Allison and Lisa’s talent for pushing the creative without losing the shot. The results were diverse and delightful.
