We Like Our Burger Photography Well-Done (Bun intended)
Happy National Hamburger Day!
At OMS Photography, we’ve been shooting food since 1989 (OMS Hamburger Gallery) – and burgers have been part of the conversation almost from the start. Over the decades, we’ve worked with some of the biggest names in the QSR and restaurant industry, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: the burger is one of the most technically demanding subjects in food photography.
That might sound surprising. It’s just a burger, right? Not quite.
A great burger shot requires everything to come together at once – the bun has to have the right sheen without looking greasy, the patty needs texture and color that reads as hot and fresh, the cheese pull has to be timed perfectly, and the layers of lettuce, tomato, and sauce have to be stacked in a way that looks abundant but not sloppy. Every element is competing for attention, and every element has to win.
That’s where experience matters. After years of burger shoots, our team – alongside talented food stylists – has developed the eye and the process to make it happen consistently. We know how to build the stack, how to light for that appetizing warmth, and how to capture the moment that makes someone stop scrolling and start craving.
We genuinely love this work. There’s a reason burgers keep showing up in our portfolio. They challenge us; they reward precision, and when everything clicks, there’s nothing more satisfying to see come to life in the frame.
Got a burger (or a menu full of them) that needs its close-up? Let’s talk.
Here’s a few of our favorites from over the years:
